Cost of Living in Singapore
Greetings to everyone from this sunny island Singapore!
On my first post, I'd like to talk about the cost of living in Singapore.
Singapore is frequently considered as one of the most expensive cities to live in the world.
The city definitely is an expensive city to live in yet it might not be as expensive as many people would like to think.
When I was a student back in 2010-2013, I was living on about SGD$800-$900 per month. Although my parents were supporting me about 70%, I took up part-time jobs while studying full-time. I took up Tuition Grant provided by Singapore Government and thus, I did not have to worry about school fees. In short, the break down of my living cost as a student back in early 2010s would be;
Rent - $400
Food - $200
Entertainment-$150
Mobile Phone Bill - $20
Transportation- $120
------------------------
Total - $890
Obviously this $800-$900 range would only provide a minimalist lifestyle. If you'd like to enjoy what Singapore has to offer (such as travelling outside Singapore, Shopping), then it will definitely cost a lot more than this. I'm sure teenage students wouldn't mind having a bare minimum lifestyle for a few years of their life. You can also check out my video on YouTube to understand better on how I break down the cost.
Hi Ihana! I saw your video regarding Singapore. I'm planning to go there can you help me to see around? It's my first time there. I'm a Filipina.
